- Definition of the property of Enthalpy and related calculations using Formation Enthalpies and Hess‘s Law
- Organic Chemistry
- Organic compounds – structure, nomenclature and structural isomerism
- Polymerisation reactions - addition & condensation reactions
- Electrochemistry
- Redox reactions and oxidation states
- The electrochemical series
- Introduction to corrosion and methods of prevention
How you learn
- The learning materials consist of a self-contained and comprehensive learning package
- Learning materials will be provided to the student in the form of a series of lessons, these include self-assessment questions with solutions to aid developmental learning
- Student support tutoring is provided by telephone, e-mail, MS Teams, and where practical and required, by visits to TUOLE where additional support on an individual basis can be given
- Additional support will be provided via E-learning@tees course materials including tutorial materials, and links to supporting materials, will be placed in the e-learning@tees website
How you are assessed
- Formative Assessment
- The distance learning materials include a series of self-assessment questions and answers at the end of each lesson to allow for progression of learning
- Formative assessment is further provided by five tutor marked assessments for the student to complete and submit for marking
- The formative assessments provide students with an opportunity to receive feedback and prepare for the summative assessment
- Feedback in the form of email or telephone contact is available to the student
- Summative Assessment
- Evidence will be provided from a single synoptic assessment, comprising a set of short answer questions related to the sequence and content of the lessons provided within the learning materials
- All learning outcomes will be addressed by means of this synoptic assessment
