Mechanical Engineering BEng (Hons)

Overview

This degree is designed for individuals interested in solving problems and understanding the technicalities of how things work. Mechanical engineers design and manufacture anything that has moving parts, from automotive transmissions to prosthetic devices, gas turbines, wind turbines, robots, and machine tools.

Entry Requirements

  • 96-112 points including maths, from any combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications
  • Examples include A-level, BTEC, Access to HE Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, T-Level, or the International Baccalaureate
  • Accredited prior learning may be accepted

Professional Accreditation

  • Accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council for meeting the requirement for registration as an incorporated engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a chartered engineer

Other Course Routes

  • Foundation year: Study this course with a foundation year if you need additional preparation or if you don't have sufficient grades to join Year 1
  • Integrated masters: Study this course with an integrated masters - you study three years at undergraduate level and one year at postgraduate level
  • Work placement: Study this course with an optional work placement year, at no extra cost
