Overview of the MPharm Program
The MPharm program at the University of Kent is designed to prepare students for a successful career as a pharmacist in community or hospital settings. The program is hosted at the Medway School of Pharmacy and is based on three interlinked themes: the science of medicines, professional practice and prescribing, and biomedical science and therapeutics.

The Course
The curriculum is outcomes-focused and designed to prepare students for their future professional practice. Students study basic and applied science as well as clinical and professional practice, all in the context of patient care. The program includes external placements throughout the course, allowing students to gain practical experience and build confidence in their skills.

Teaching and Assessment
A range of teaching methods are used, including traditional lectures and video recordings, seminars, tutorials, laboratory sessions, practicals, online work, reading, independent study, reflecting on assignment feedback, and practice-based learning. Assessment types include written examinations, multiple-choice question tests, coursework, oral presentations, poster presentations, clinical simulation activities with standardized patients, patient safety competences, and production of a research paper.
Entry Requirements
- A level: ABB, including Chemistry grade B plus another science subject
- BTEC Nationals: DDD
- International Baccalaureate: 32 points overall or 15 points at HL, including HL Chemistry at 5 and one other HL science-based subject at 5
- GCSE: Mathematics and English Language at grade 5/B

Fees and Funding

- International: £23,500
- Additional costs: Students on the MPharm program must complete the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the fitness to practice and admission process, currently charged at £53. Students are also required to purchase lab coats, safety glasses, and a notebook at a cost price of £18.
