Professional Practice (Teaching and Learning) MSc

The Professional Practice (Teaching and Learning) MSc is a part-time, work-based program designed for qualified teachers who want to develop and enhance their working practice at Master's level. This flexible program allows students to tailor their degree to their particular interests and career aspirations.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are normally required to have a minimum of two years’ professional experience and hold an undergraduate degree, in addition to a teaching qualification. International students must meet the English language entry requirements, which include a Good level of English language, equivalent to B2 on CEFR.


Course Structure

The program consists of three stages:


  1. Stage 1 - Year 1 (PG Certificate): Students take the following core modules:
  • WL813 - Evidence-Based Practice (30 credits)
  • WL880 - The Role of Schooling: A Thinking Approach (30 credits)
  1. Stage 2 - Year 2 (PG Diploma): Students take the following core modules:
  • WL882 - Research Skills (30 credits)
  • WL881 - Addressing Barriers to Learning (30 credits)
  1. Stage 3 - Year 3 (MSc): Students take the following core module:
  • WL816 - Work-related Project and Dissertation (60 credits)
