Program Overview
MSc Engineering Programme
The MSc Engineering Programme aims to broaden and deepen your knowledge and understanding of a variety of engineering subjects, supporting career development and progression. You can choose to undertake specific modules for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) purposes, or a number of modules to build up to a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master's level award.
Course Overview
This course is designed for engineers working in the energy industry. It is delivered online and gives you a choice to select from a portfolio of modules to create a tailored programme specific to your own role, your career ambitions or area of interest.

What You Will Study
The MSc Engineering Programme allows you to apply for any module in our wide selection of Online Learning degrees, offered by the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology. Some modules may have prerequisites over and above the standard qualifications for entry.

- Master of Science Engineering (8 modules plus a project)
- Postgraduate Diploma Engineering (8 modules)
- Postgraduate Certificate Engineering (4 modules)
Teaching and Assessment
You will engage with tutors and your peers using our virtual learning environment, CampusMoodle, allowing you to discuss and share learning. All your learning material is available online 24/7 providing flexibility and ease of access.
Activity Summary
- Lectures: 2.5 hours per week combination of online participation and private study over a 12 week period
- Project Supervision: 15 hours per week
- Independent study: 150 hours of online participation and private study per 15 credit module over a 12 week period
Entry Requirements
- Applicants normally hold a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in Engineering or a relevant discipline such as Geology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics.
- Applicants with a lower degree classification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
- English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.

Student Funding
Postgraduate students will normally make their own arrangements for payment of fees. However, there are a limited number of SAAS funded places on certain postgraduate courses.

The vast majority of graduates are in employment in the Energy Sector. Evidence shows that there is a healthy demand for Engineers who demonstrate their development through further study. This is a career-enhancing course and modules will provide you with updated capabilities suited to changing and emerging professional engineering roles. You will develop your capacity as a reflective Engineer, building and applying practical knowledge and skills, as you further your understanding of research and the evidence based approaches.
