Program Description:

The program consists of five years of study, with the third year spent entirely in a German-speaking country as a teaching assistant or visiting student. This immersion experience allows you to develop your language skills while gaining valuable cultural insights.


Outline:


Year 1:

  • Compulsory courses: Politics & International Relations 1 and 2, Academic Writing for Language & Literature, Getting Started at the University of Aberdeen.
  • Optional courses: German for Beginners or German Language 1 & 2.

Year 2:

  • Compulsory courses: Modern German Culture 1 & 2, Ideas and Ideologies in Politics and International Relations, Global Politics: Equality and Inequality.
  • Optional courses: German Language (Advanced Introductory) or German Language 3 & 4.

Year 3:

  • Compulsory courses: Academic session spent in a German-speaking country.

Year 4:

  • Compulsory courses: German Junior Honours Language Study, Researching in the 21st Century.
  • Optional courses: One Level 3 Politics and International Relations course, 45 credits of Level 3 German courses.

Year 5:

  • Compulsory courses: German Language Study for Senior Honours.
  • Optional courses: Dissertation in German or Dissertation (Politics), one Level 4 Politics and International Relations course.
