Outline

  • Year 1:
  • Compulsory courses: Academic Writing for Language & Literature; Getting Started at the University of Aberdeen; Politics & International Relations 1: Democracy and Governance; Politics & International Relations 2: Power and Conflict.
  • Students select one course from Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Spanish Language options and one from Encountering the Other in Iberia and the Americas or Latin America: A Cultural History.
  • Year 2:
  • Compulsory courses: Ideas and Ideologies in Politics and International Relations; Global Politics: Equality and Inequality.
  • Students select one course from Beginner/Intermediate or Intermediate/Advanced Spanish Language options and one from Latin America: Texts and Context or Rebels, Outsiders and Conformists.
  • Year 3:
  • Compulsory course: Residence Abroad Project.
  • Year 4:
  • Compulsory courses: Researching in the 21st Century; Spanish Language 6.
  • Students select one course from a list of second-half session Level 3 Politics and International Relations options and 45 credits from Level 3 Spanish and Latin American Studies courses.
  • Year 5:
  • Compulsory course: Spanish Language 7.
  • Students select one dissertation option and complete further coursework in Level 4 Spanish and Latin American Studies to reach a total of 60 credits in the discipline.
