Course Structure and Admissions
Year 1
- Students will build fundamental skills in textiles, digital design directives, and the most current industry software and technology.
- There is an emphasis on understanding fashion with a focus on signature and direction.

Year 2
- Students will gain greater understanding of creative collaboration and start to build a skills-based portfolio.
- We support all our students to undertake a work placement in the final term.
- Students start to solidify ideas about their signature pieces and brand.

Year 3
- Students will bring their learning together in a self-directed design project, ready for show or exhibition at the degree show.
- We ask students to show their contextual studies research and thinking in a long form dissertation.
- Students will bring together their skills in an industry-ready portfolio whilst at the same time being encouraged to enter external competitions.

Entry Requirements
- At Ravensbourne, we accept a wide range of qualifications for entry onto our courses, whilst also considering the context in which they were achieved.
- For this course, we would usually require a GCSE Grade 4 or above in English in addition to any of the below;
- Two A Levels at grade CC or above
- BTEC Extended Diploma at grade MPP
- UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma
- T Level (pass or above)
- Access to Higher Education Diploma
- International Baccalaureate at grade 24 or above
- Other/Mixed qualifications equivalent to 64 UCAS Tariff points
Interview and Portfolio
- Admission onto this course is also subject to successful completion of an interview and portfolio (or showreel).
- If you wish to study our BA (Hons) Fashion degree course, we will need to see examples of previous art, new media, and/or design work that showcases your suitability for the course.

Facilities
- Our spacious and well-equipped fashion atelier means that our fashion students learn traditional, technical, and creative skills such as draping, pattern cutting, and machine sewing.
- But not only that. They can also push creative limits by designing and printing their own materials using our industry-standard fabric printers.
- Our facilities are second to none. Using digital workshops, you will be encouraged to explore new digital technologies, such as: 3D printing, digital knit, digital print, digital embroidery, laser cutting, access to body scanning, and the Lectra CAD/CAM design management system.
- Alongside mastering the latest fashion technology, you will also be taught how to effectively use industry-standard software, such as Clo3D, Marvellous Designer, and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- With access to the latest camera equipment and video editing software, Adobe Premier Pro, you will also expand your awareness of different creative fields and learn the value of interdisciplinary exploration.
Materials Library
- The Ravensbourne materials library is curated by Material ConneXion, a business that introduces brands to the latest material innovations.
- The materials scientists at Material ConneXion select innovative materials relevant to the courses at Ravensbourne and that reflect current trends in design and manufacturing.
- Samples of these materials are then added to the library so students and staff can browse the physical collection for inspiration, material ideas, and applications.
- The library hosts 1,500 material samples and an interactive table for further research and access to the Material ConneXion database.

- The Ravensbourne University library has a large collection of print, online, and multimedia resources available for staff and students to use.
