Entry Requirements:
General Entry Requirements:
For all applicants, be it EU home students or international overseas students outside the EU, the general entry requirements must be met alongside the specific criteria for this program. The general entry requirements entail:
- Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A -C) including English Language and Maths.
- BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: DDD
Specific Entry Requirements:
In addition to the general entry requirements, applicants must satisfy the specific criteria for the Chemical Engineering with a Foundation Year program. These include:
- A Level offer: BBB
- IB offer: 32 points overall with 4 in SL Maths and Science
- BTEC offer: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: DDD
- GCSE Requirement:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE grades 9-4 (A -C) including Maths and Science grade 6/B and English Language grade 4/C
- Selection:
- Offers will not be made to those who apply simply because their A level grades/predictions are below the requirements for direct entry to the degree programme.
- Applicants eligible for this course include:
- Those wishing to study a degree without the appropriate background
- Students performing at a very high sporting level who wish to study at Loughborough, but do not have the required qualifications due to sporting commitments
- Mature students returning to education
- Those who did not meet their expected entrance requirements due to illness or other adverse situations
- Students with alternative backgrounds and qualifications
- Applications are treated on a case by case basis and a number of other personal situations may also be considered. Applicants are usually selected solely on the basis of their UCAS application, but in exceptional cases, an interview and/or maths test may be required.

Language Proficiency Requirements:
English Language Requirements:
Students whose first language is not English must demonstrate their English language proficiency. Loughborough University accepts various qualifications as evidence of English language proficiency, including:
- IELTS: Minimum of 6.5 overall, with no less than 5.5 in any component
- Pearson PTE Academic: Minimum of 62 overall, with no less than 59 in any component
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum of 90 overall, with no less than 21 in any component
- Cambridge English: Minimum of 176 overall, with no less than 169 in any component
Note:
Students who have completed a degree taught and assessed in English may be exempt from providing evidence of English language proficiency.
