International Year One in Communication will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Hofstra University.

Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This program pairs you with dedicated faculty who help you succeed in your first year at Hofstra University.

    Student services

    In order to help students reach their academic, professional, and personal goals, the Dean of Students Office directly supports the staff members who direct the following offices: Student Advocacy and Prevention Awareness; Community Standards; HofstraCard Services; the Interfaith Center; Commuting Student Services and Community Outreach; Campus Recreation; Residence Life; and Student Leadership and Engagement, which includes Orientation and New Student Programs, Intercultural Engagement and Inclusion, LGBTQ+ Programming and Advocacy, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Community Service.


    Housing services

    Students who wish to apply for on campus housing must complete a two-step application process. Once both steps have been completed, the Office of Residence Lifewill assign a housing space and will communicate the housing assignment to students by sending an email to their Hofstra pride email account. It is important to apply for housing as soon as possible. Housing is assigned on a first come, first served basis based on students' housing application submission date. Information about the housing application process is sent to new students in their Admissions acceptance packet.


    Library services

    The Hofstra University Library supports the curricular offerings of the University, fulfilling the research and instructional needs of university students, faculty and administrators through collaboration with these constituents. The University Library recognizes the diverse, multicultural nature of the Hofstra University community and creates collections that reflect these multiple perspectives.


    ICT services

    The Help Desk provides computer assistance to the Faculty, Staff and Administration of the Hofstra Community.


    Medical services

    Student Health Services advances the Hofstra University and the Division of Student Affairs mission and goals by working in concert with our colleagues to create a learning environment where high quality, accessible, cost effective health care, education and health promotion services, along with personal responsibility and positive action lead to success.

    Sports facilities

    The Club Sports Program consists of student organizations that offer competition in a particular sport on a recreational collegiate level to enhance the experience of Hofstra University students. There are 26 different teams with over 800 students participating. They are intended to be recreational and competitive, as well as educational and instructional in an effort to connect students who share a common interest. They are voluntary and welcoming of any and all skill levels.


    Student clubs

    OSLE oversees the Student Government Association and approximately 200 undergraduate, fraternal, and graduate clubs and organizations, advised by various departments. Our diverse student clubs and organizations fall under the following categories:

    English language requirements:

    IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 79, TOEFL Essentials 8.5, Duolingo 110, or Password 8.

    Academic requirements:

    Minimum GPA of 2.5. High school diploma.
