Foundations of Diabetes
Overview
This short course is designed for healthcare professionals who manage patients with diabetes mellitus, to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. The course will cover focused consultation skills and the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus following World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
The course will also explore the fundamental concepts of managing diabetic patients, pharmacological management for diabetes, and complications of diabetes such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy.

Course structure
The course is classroom-based and will be taught on campus over four, full day sessions, delivered across four months.

Entry requirements
Applicants must be registered healthcare professionals with a previous level 5 or level 6 qualification. Ideally, you should be working in a clinical setting where your work involves delivering diabetes services.

The fee for this course is £750.
