Course Overview

Be among the first to study at our brand new £5.8m FuturePark where you’ll master the design, development and application of computer systems in this progressive and innovative course.


You’ll develop a range of technical skills that will enable you to design and create dynamic software systems that can be used across a range of industries to solve complex problems. From software design and coding to web development and cloud computing – design the course around your ambitions as a future computer scientist.


Discover a range of computer science topics that explore key concepts and techniques, providing you with an in-depth understanding of software engineering skills. These topics include the use of distributed databases and warehouse management to manage business systems, various industry-standard programming languages and the ability to combine existing ways of working with new ones to provide the required business output.


These skills are expanded upon throughout your degree to support you working confidently, independently and as part of a team in complex, unfamiliar contexts. This will involve gathering and evaluating different types of information, identifying problems, developing and documenting solutions and making effective use of technology to generate transformative solutions.

With the aim of building your individual portfolio, you’ll mainly be assessed by coursework and technical projects where you will gain industry-based skills to kick-start your career in computer science.


You’ll use a range of tools and operating systems such as Android, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Microsoft, Oracle and Cisco.


You’ll have access to the latest technology and equipment at FuturePark at our Park Campus in Cheltenham – a £5.8 million centre of excellence for cyber and digital which opened in autumn 2024.


The cutting-edge digital hub offers state-of-the-art facilities including a Cyber Control Centre, a Virtual Reality facility, a digital lounge, enhanced teaching and the latest technology including photogrammetry equipment offering new capability to capture 3D objects in different locations.


Developed in consultation with CyNam, Hub8 and Plexal, the new facilities will enable you to simulate real-life experiences, connect with industry and graduate with the skills and knowledge required to drive the sector forward regionally and nationally.


An integrated foundation year is an extra, introductory year at the beginning of the full degree.


This option aims to give you a good grounding in computer science-related subjects that will lead you into the BSc (Hons) Computer Science course.


If you don’t meet the stated entry requirements or you’re returning to education, it could be a great option that enables you to study this course.


Entry Requirements

  • Typical Offers: 104 UCAS tariff points, BCC at A levels, DMM at BTEC or a Merit in your T-Level.
  • Additional requirements: English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
  • Don't meet the entry requirements? This course is available with an additional integrated foundation year. This four year option has lower entry requirements – see below – than the other study type/s available.
  • Typical offers: 48 UCAS tariff points, EE at A levels or a PP in a BTEC Diploma.
  • Mature students: We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
