Course Overview
This flagship two-year Global MBA offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of business, engaging with some of the most contemporary challenges faced by global business leaders.
Supported by our Global Leadership Development Programme and 12 month industry placement, you will be offered the opportunity to develop the most in-demand skills needed to confront the challenges and unlock the opportunities of a dynamic and unpredictable economic environment. You’ll also explore significant issues including business resilience and crisis management as a key part of the course.
The International Supply Chain and Logistics specialism aims to support students to identify the key issues that are driving globalisation of industries and markets and to further explore the main activities, structures and management of global and international logistics systems and supply networks.

This applied MBA will provide you with the knowledge foundations of business before offering the unique opportunity to specialise in your chosen industrial field, allowing the flexibility to shape your study based on your career aspirations. It is designed to develop creative, flexible and aspirational leaders of industry.
You will be immersed in fundamental business principles. These core foundations of business integrate cross-cutting themes relating to the global challenges shaping today’s business environment, including technological change, the global political and economic context, social and demographic change and environmental crisis.
Study Style
Modules combine a mix of case studies, applied practical learning and real-world applications, supporting you to develop the fundamental skills needed as a future a global business leader. All learners will be supported in applying for a competitive year long industry placement to develop their management capabilities, and maximise their career potential.
You will have a number of opportunities to personalise your programme, with our unique specialisation model and a range of options to engage with industry during your second year. Students will be challenged to think creatively and deliver novel solutions to complex business problems. To enable this, unique assessments have been built into modules that involve practical work-related assignment such as the ‘client-consultant scenario’.
Entry Requirements
- 2.2 Honours Degree
- A 2:2 honours degree or equivalent, or a comparable professional qualification and ideally a minimum of two years management / supervisory experience. Applicants with significant work experience but without a formal Level 6 qualification will also be considered.

- This module is concerned with trying to understand the nature of leadership within a global business, how the concept of leadership has changed and developed, what is driving this change and how an understanding of leadership theory can allow future business leaders to tackle the challenges that they will face.

- Accounting and Finance for Global Managers (BM7204)
- The module is designed to equip managers with essential accounting and financial knowledge and skills necessary for effective decision-making in a global business environment. The module covers fundamental accounting principles, financial statements analysis, budgeting, and the interpretation of financial data.
- Students will be encouraged to consider how research might improve our knowledge and understanding of international business management whilst having a positive impact on the industry itself.

- Managing Complex Projects (BM7205)
- Project management is key to delivering strategic value within an organisation and it involves time planning, controlling costs, time and quality which are predetermined and defined. Included are also budgetary constraints, risk and the management of stakeholder interests. Projects can range from construction of a new building to the launch of new product, or outsourcing previous in-house functions, to the re-engineering of products, services and processes.

- This module has been designed to meet the needs of business professionals enabling them to thrive in the fast-moving world of global business. Students will recognise and develop the academic, personal and professional skills, competencies and behaviours required to thrive in a global business environment creating and attending to their own development plan.

- Business Project (BM7207)
- The purpose of this module is to allow the student to carry out a self-managed piece of work that integrates the knowledge and skills acquired during the previous study within an employability and career development focused framework. It provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to the development of a new venture taking students on an entrepreneurial journey from ideation through to new venture creation or to the analysis and resolution of the kinds of business and management problems that are encountered in developing a viable business project.

- Using a global futures approach, the module explores how different logistics organisations adapt to changes in operations and demand. By applying theory, the module addresses key challenges that affect the future of global logistics operations.

- Managing Business Continuinity in a Global Context (BM7219)
- This module critically explores principles and practice of business continuity planning in a global context and in relation to diverse crises and disaster risks.
- Students will develop an advanced understanding of business continuity planning for organisations and organisational networks at a local, national and global scale. Emphasis is placed on developing advanced professional skills in relation to the planning, management and implementation of complex business continuity projects that involve a high level of multi-agency and stakeholder integration in response to highly contextualised emergencies, large-scale disasters and crises.
- Students will engage in a series of seminars and workshops designed to critically review contemporary and innovative approaches towards organisational risk and crisis management. Areas of focus will include organisational resilience, disaster risk reduction, business continuity planning, crisis management, leadership and continuous learning.

- Global Operations Management (BM7702)
- Globalisation forces operations managers to think on an international scale. This module explores how different organisations manage their operations strategically. We examine theoretical concepts and the commercial practicalities of running a modern business operation and explore a range of related issues. A specific range of key Operations Management themes will be introduced including international outsourcing, logistics and risk management. The module will enable students to think about fundamental processes and the Operation Management skills involved in international operations.

- International Trade Law (LW7014)
- The aim of this module is to provide an appreciation of the laws governing the trading of goods on the international marketplace. We will examine the development and influence of the laws governing such export trading, legal relationships between the parties, the nature of the particular types of contracts and the rights and liabilities that arise. Emphasis is placed on the practical implications of these laws for individuals and companies trading internationally. As such the course provides academic challenge as well as day-to-day relevance for those students who may later be involved in advising on or conducting such transactions. Students will notice the strong bias towards the laws of sea trading, but this merely reflects the fact that the overwhelming majority of export trading is conducted via carriage by sea.

Placements
Placement opportunities of up to 12 months of full-time work experience relevant to your field of study are available as part of this programme. During this time, you’ll develop an independent portfolio of work to demonstrate:

- research skills
- identifying problem areas
- accurate application of theory to problem solving.
You’ll apply learning in real-time and independently evidences professional skills in presenting solutions orally and in written report formats.
This 12-month work-placement is embedded within the course and will allow you to practically apply knowledge within the industry and further develop skills and personal employability.
Placements could be with an external employer, or follow a self-employed/start-up enterprise route.
