Business Management and Strategy (Level 6) BA (Hons)
Overview
Top up your HND or diploma into a full BA honours in one year and progress your career. You’ll learn about building and sustaining strategy as well as completing your own investigative study, you’ll develop specialist business management skills in line with your career goals. Subjects include strategic marketing, new business enterprise and globally responsible leadership.
Study Style
You’ll learn through lectures, seminars, group work, reflective practice, problem-solving challenges and presenting. Through these you’ll develop skills in managing people, projects, finance, HR, marketing and logistics.
Real-world case studies offer you the opportunity to build your expertise while simulations and live pitches to business leaders give you practical experience.
Entry Requirements
- HND, Diploma of Higher Education or Foundation degree
- Applicants should possess an HND, Diploma of Higher Education or Foundation degree.
- Mature students
- We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
- International students
- Please read the entry requirements for your country – and contact our admissions team if you have questions.
- Additional requirements
- English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.

- Managing Operations Globally (BM6104)
- Globalization is forcing business operations managers to increasingly think on an international scale. This module builds upon previous study and explores how different organizations manage their operations strategically in a global environment. A specific range of key international operations management themes will be introduced including international outsourcing and logistics network planning. It will enable students to think systemically about fundamental processes and management skills involved in international operation.

- Sustainability and Globally Responsible Leadership (BM6175)
- The module aims to develop an understanding of the concept of sustainability: its origins and concerns, and its management and implementation in organisations. The module invites students to critically assess the role and obligations of organisations and business leaders in a global stakeholder society and the moral implications of operating in global environments. The role of business in relation to the ‘sustainable development agenda’ and the scope for business leaders to ‘act as agents for sustainability’ are amongst some of the themes that will be explored.

- Investigative Study (BM6199)
- The aim of this module is related to a topical issue within the business management area. It will provide scope for the student to demonstrate their ability to learn independently, research, analyse, synthesise and evaluate appropriate literature. Students will select a title from a range that will be made available from advisers via the module tutor

- Strategic Business and Management (BM6722)
- The module examines strategic decision-making through an investigation of external and internal environment, strategic options, and implementation. It enables students to develop an understanding of business strategy formulation and implementation, in terms of theory, practice and policy. It builds upon the students' prior learning at Levels 4 and 5 and integrates these, providing the student with a holistic perspective of how organisations determine their strategic direction.

- Strategic Management of People and Change (BM6723)
- All organisations need a workforce with knowledge, skills and behaviours that will enable delivery of business objectives. How change in the business is managed is also crucial to that success. The aim of this module is to enable students to understand the rationale for a strategic approach to people management and change in the workplace. Students will be encouraged to reflect critically on the nature and process of people strategy and change in organisations. This module provides an insight into the essential management and leadership skills required, in addition to how employees may be developed to deliver a people strategy and manage change effectively.

- Leadership and Management in Global Contexts (BM6724)
- In the light of the now established phenomenon of globalised businesses and markets, this module begins by examining the importance of cultural norms and identities based on learned attitudes, values and beliefs and their impact upon the conduct of business operations. An analysis of the depth and extent of adaptations of organizational strategy and behaviour which are necessary to achieve successful outcomes in this global environment is conducted.

- Managing Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (BM6728)
- Equality, diversity, and inclusion are important drivers of organisational performance, benefiting staff and stakeholders. This module will enable managers to understand the business case for equality, diversity and inclusion and the role of managers in creating inclusive cultures. It focuses on the skills required for inclusive leadership and how to adapt leadership styles to support others in seeing the benefits of inclusion. It will enable learners to analyse the requirements for managing, planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

- Strategic Marketing (MS6101)
- This module provides opportunities for students to specify and justify innovative strategic marketing solutions. Issues addressed include: the product market in which the business is to compete, level of investment, the functional area strategies to compete in the selected product market, and the strategic assets or competencies that underlie the strategy and provide the sustainable competitive advantage.
