Program Overview

What is Quantity Surveying BSc (Hons)?

This course is designed to develop a firm foundation of professional skills, with a broader understanding of the construction industries, whilst developing the business acumen to manage construction projects.

Recurring themes throughout the course include the application of digital construction, sustainability, international challenges and globalisation. There is an especially strong focus on real client, real site and real issue project work and on interdisciplinary collaboration.

Our research and professional practice informed teaching will keep you informed and up to date on cutting edge technology, professional practice and industry developments.

Study style

Through lectures, you’ll develop a broad knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the project life-cycle from inception, through design phase, construction to building completion and beyond.

In the First year of your course, explore modules such as sustainable construction and design, building surveying, digital construction through Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital software. In the second and third years you’ll explore larger architectural technology and construction projects, investigate pre-contract procedures and optional modules in heritage building projects, or developing the role of a project manager via skills as an employer’s agents.

We utilise a variety of assessment methods to help you develop your academic and professional skills, such as coursework, projects, reports, essays, exams, groupwork, seminars, presentations, practical workshops and portfolio’s. Precedent study field trips in the UK and abroad are essential part of our programmes.
