Course Content:

The program focuses on developing the key clinical skills required for the GPN role, including venepuncture, ear care, wound management, cervical cytology, immunization and vaccination, and chronic condition management.


Structure:

  • Block teaching: Students study one module at a time to promote deeper learning.
  • Regular assessments: Assessments are spread throughout the year instead of concentrated exams at the end.
  • Simple timetable: This allows for participation in sports, societies, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Supervised work-based learning: Students will have a GPN mentor who provides support and guidance in the workplace.

Entry Requirements:


For UK and EU Applicants:

  • Effective Level 1 Registration: All applicants must possess a valid and active Level 1 registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Academic Qualifications:
  • Option 1:
  • 120 credits at levels 4 and 5.
  • Evidence of recent study (usually within the last 5 years).
  • Employment as a general practice nurse by the program start date.
  • Option 2:
  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience within a healthcare setting.
  • 120 credits at level 4 and a minimum of 30 credits at level 5.
  • Employment as a general practice nurse by the program start date.
  • Additional Qualifications: Applicants who fall short of the above requirements may utilize the APA mechanism to contribute towards fulfilling the criteria.

Language Proficiency Requirements:
