Program Overview

Course Overview

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification. It was previously known as PTTLS . The award is appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers who may be working, or intend to work, within an FE college, adult and community learning centre or learning provider and for those delivering work-based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.

This is a full cost course. There is no fee remission available and you cannot apply for an advanced learner loan to pay for your fees.

Program Outline

Year 1

This qualification gives you an introduction to teaching and explores various roles and responsibilities associated with a teaching role within the education and training sector. This includes an introduction to lesson planning, exploring concepts such as behaviour management, learning theories and approaches, motivation, assessment, and some actual practical teaching experience via a micro-teach.

You will be assessed via three written assignments and a practical teaching task.

On successful completion of this qualification, you can progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training if additional requirements are met. Opportunities are also available to specialise in English, maths or e-learning as part of a progression route which will help in gaining a place on the PGCE/Diploma if you don’t yet have a specialist qualification.
