Program Overview
Program Overview
The University of Strathclyde offers a BA Hons Psychology & Human Resource Management program. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, psychology, and human resource management.
Program Structure
The program is a four-year course that allows students to study psychology and human resource management in depth. The first year covers the basic principles of learning, including biological bases of behavior, thinking, memory, personality, social influences on behavior, and research methods. In the second and third years, students will study a range of classes that provide a greater understanding of human development and interaction, cognitive processes, individual differences, and biological influences on behavior.
Course Content
The course content includes:
- Psychology 1a: learning theory, developmental psychology, personality, biological psychology, and the scientific basis for psychology
- Psychology 1b: sensation and perception, cognitive psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and research methods
- Human Resource Management: managing people, workplace behavior, organizational psychology, and sociological theories
- Cognition & Neuropsychology: higher mental functions, theoretical and experimental studies of normal human cognition, and neuropsychological studies
- Social & Health Psychology: social psychological theories, research, and applications to real-world health issues
- Introduction to Research Design & Analysis: measurement, research design, and statistical analysis in psychology

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the program are:
- Highers: AAAA (1st sitting) or AAAAB (2nd sitting) including English and at least one other social science subject
- A Levels: ABB-BBB (GCSE English Language 6/B or Literature 6/B, GCSE Maths 4/C)
- International Baccalaureate: 32-30
- Irish Leaving Certificate: Two H2 passes and three H3 passes including English
- HNC: Social Sciences A in Graded Unit; Maths National 5 B, or equivalent

Fees & Funding
The tuition fees for the program are:
- Scotland: £1,820
- England, Wales & Northern Ireland: £9,535
- Republic of Ireland: If you are an Irish citizen and have been ordinary resident in the Republic of Ireland for the three years prior to the relevant date, and will be coming to Scotland for Educational purposes only, you will meet the criteria of England, Wales & Northern Ireland fee status
- International: £21,550

Careers
As a psychology graduate, continuing your studies will help you become a professional psychologist, which can lead to working in areas such as clinical, educational or occupational psychology. Many graduates also work in research. Other possible careers are teaching, human resource management, social work, counseling, and management and professional positions throughout the private and public sectors. Recent HRM graduates have found employment in insurance, retail, manufacturing, recruitment consultancy, and in the public sector. Some are employed in jobs such as HR trainee, HR assistant, and recruitment consultant, while others are employed in general administration and management.
