Comprehensive Human Resource Management (HRM) course designed to enhance your HRM career prospects within an organisation.

This course is validated by The Institute of Commercial Management (ICM). This course focuses on the development of professional skills; while it does not sit on the national framework, the modules are drawn from Griffith College's suite of QQI-validated degree programmes.





Why study Human Resource Management at Griffith College?

The Diploma in Human Resource Management is offered on a part-time basis over a 24-week period. The learner will be introduced to the main HRM theories, and these will provide a conceptual and practical platform for participant learning.

    On successful completion of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the importance of corporate social responsibility and ethics as critical elements of management practice
  • Demonstrate and apply key managerial skills, ie analysis, critical thinking, decision-making, time management and report writing

  • Discuss the challenges organisations face in uncertain times
  • Explain and discuss the impact of power, conflict and politics on organisational behaviours
  • Recognise the role of organisational theory in contemporary settings
  • Identify possible causes of individual and group ineffectiveness

  • On successful completion of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the importance of law to the operation of business in Ireland
  • Describe the essential aspects of the law of contract, negligence and employment law and their impact on businesses and to be able to apply the core principles in a practical manner
  • Explain the legal structure of business, including limited liability and the full life cycle of business from formation to winding up
  • Explain the role of ethics in business and identify ethical issues and their resolution in a business/organisational context
  • Recognise the ethical concerns in situations faced by managers at all levels of business organisations, and analyse these situations and present solutions while reflecting on one's own ethical values and standards

  • Explain the essential elements of human resource  management and ethical practices in organisations
  • Discuss the importance of the link between human resources and an organisation's success
