Overview

Managing and maintaining network and information security is an essential aspect for the development of the global economy and is crucial to the success of all companies, particularly in the current climate.


Course Details

Course Modules

  • Research Methods (5 ECTS)
    • This module serves to significantly deepen the learners’ research skills, both in relation to their module-related assignments and later in the completion of their major dissertation / dissertation by practice.
  • Managing Information Security (10 ECTS)
    • This module aims to give the learner an understanding of the issues relating to the management of information security in modern industry.
  • Computer Networks and Internetworking (5 ECTS)
    • This module aims to provide the learner with an understanding of the issues involved in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks, as well as a knowledge of such systems in terms of physical implementation, protocols, routing algorithms, management, software interfaces, and applications.
  • Computer Forensics (10 ECTS)
    • This module aims to provide the learner with an understanding of Digital Forensics and the tools and techniques used in investigations that involve digital evidence.
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects of Information Security (5 ECTS)
    • This module aims to provide the learner with the knowledge and understanding of the legal and ethical issues surrounding information and information security, privacy and data protection.
  • Cryptography (10 ECTS)
    • This module aims to furnish the learner with a mastery of the core aspects of computer communication security.
  • Information and Network Security Technologies (5 ECTS)
    • This course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge of the technologies that are used to protect computer networks as well as those used to infiltrate and attack them.
  • IT Infrastructure Protection & Ethical Hacking (10 ECTS)
    • This module aims to provide the learner with an understanding of what IT infrastructure is, how to protect it and the role Ethical Hacking plays in this regard.

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates applying for this course should have a 2.2 Level 8 Honours degree or above in Computing Science, or a 2.2 Higher Diploma in Computing or related discipline or international equivalent and/or relevant work experience.

Entry Requirements:

The Postgraduate Diploma in Network and Information Security program at Griffith College welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including EU home students and international overseas students outside the EU. However, specific entry requirements apply depending on the student's academic history:


EU Home Students:

  • A 2.2 Level 8 Honours degree or above in Computing Science
  • A 2.2 Higher Diploma in Computing or related discipline
  • Any relevant work experience will be considered with equal merit

International Overseas Students (Non-EU/Non-EEA):

  • A 2.2 Level 8 Honours degree or above in Computing Science
  • A 2.2 Higher Diploma in Computing or related discipline
  • Valid Stamp 4/Stamp 4 EU FAM (must have lived in Ireland with a valid Stamp 4/Stamp 4 EU FAM for 3 out of the last 5 years)
  • Griffith College accepts the online Duolingo English Test (DET) as valid proof of English proficiency.

International Overseas Students (Non-EU/Non-EEA):

  • As mentioned earlier, international applicants for whom English is not their first language must demonstrate their English language proficiency.
  • Griffith College currently accepts the Duolingo English Test (DET) as evidence of English proficiency.
