Overview

This module will enable you as a physiotherapist to reflect on current practice and develop advanced theoretical and practical skills in the management of individuals with upper limb dysfunction.

On successful completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Integrate theory & evidence based practice to the management of upper limb dysfunction.
  • Apply advanced skills related to the subjective & physical objective examination of the patient with peripheral joint dysfunction affecting the upper limb.
  • Utilise advanced clinical reasoning & differentiation skills to determine the appropriate physiotherapy diagnosis & management within the bounds of professional autonomy.
  • Critically evaluate & determine the appropriate physiotherapy management relating to the clinical reasoning process and problem solving.
  • Reflect, evaluate & critically appraise current practice.
  • Understand and take into account the influence of patients' cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds on their health and well-being.
  • Employ a holistic and patient-centred approach within the overall physiotherapy management of musculoskeletal joint dysfunction

    Admission Requirements

    Entry requirements

    Students should:

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification normally at Bachelors degree level (Ordinary or Honours) or equivalent.
  • Be a physiotherapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Normally have two years post qualification experience
  • Be working in the relevant field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice
  • Have access to appropriate clinical practice for the duration of the modules (the University has the provision to offer some practice placements in the onsite Physiotherapy clinic)

    • Admission is on the basis of submission of an application form, curriculum vitae, references, letter of support from your physiotherapy manager (if relevant), and possible advisory interview. An advisory interview may be used to discuss the content and expectations of the programme.

    English language requirements

    You must have an IELTS score of 6.5 (or equivalent) if English is not your first language.

    If you do not meet the IELTS requirement, you can take a University of Bradford pre-sessional English course.
