Course Description
We are one of the few universities to offer an Anatomy, Developmental & Human Biology BSc. Our course provides an opportunity for you to explore the anatomy of the body and to integrate this understanding with cutting-edge research in embryology, evolution and cell and molecular biology. You will learn how these rapidly advancing and interlinked fields of scientific investigation are helping us to better understand human structure and function. This course forms part of the suite of ‘Common Year One’ courses within the School of Bioscience Education. These comprise: Anatomy, Developmental & Human Biology; Biochemistry; Biomedical Science; Medical Physiology; Molecular Genetics; Neuroscience; Pharmacology. Once you have successfully completed Year One, you can then progress through to Years 2 and 3 where you can tailor your course of study to focus on those areas that interest you most. If you wish, you can also choose to switch to another course within the School of Bioscience Education. You may also choose to apply to undertake a full year abroad at one of our partner institutions, between the second and third years. In your final year, you will have the opportunity to conduct advanced experimental laboratory work in areas such as applied and surgical anatomy, developmental biology, cell biology, and stem cell biology.
