Endodontology MClinDent

Course essentials

The main themes which you will study are:


  • The scientific basis of endodontology
  • Diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with advanced endodontic problems and clinical treatment of patients with endodontic and other restorative problems
  • Research methodology to enable you to undertake a research project You will interact productively with fellow graduate students who are specialising in prosthodontics and periodontology The course is designed for qualified dentists wanting to extend their knowledge and clinical practice in endodontology We provide extensive contemporary knowledge in endodontology, enabling students to attain clinical proficiency in endodontics to UK specialist level, to relate endodontic care to other aspects of restorative dentistry, and to learn research methodology The teaching will prepare you for the specialist membership examination This course is available to study full-time over three years or over four years The course content is identical across both periods Candidates should apply for either the four-year (3 days per week) programme or the three-year (5 days per week) programme Both lengths are classified as full-time programmes

Entry requirements

UK applicants

  • Standard requirements: A recognised undergraduate dental qualification
  • Programme-Specific Requirements: All applicants: a dental qualification plus at least two years post-qualification experience. FDS, MFDS or MJDF is desirable Since this programme requires clinical activity that falls within the scope of practice of a dentist, Home/UK applicants should ensure that they either have full active registration as a dentist with the General Dental Council or are able to obtain temporary registration

International applicants

  • Equivalent International qualifications: International applicants are required to have a Dental degree from a recognised institution
  • English language requirements: English language band: D To study at King's, it is essential that you can communicate in English effectively in an academic environment You are usually required to provide certification of your competence in English before starting your studies Nationals of majority English speaking countries (as defined by the UKVI) who have permanently resided in this country are not usually required to complete an additional English language test

Selection process

Applications must be made online using King's Apply, the Admissions Portal A non-refundable application fee of £85 applies Applicants should apply for either the four-year, 3 days per week programme (Home applicants), or the three-year, 5 days per week programme (Overseas applicants) There is some flexibility to transfer after acceptance and before enrolment The Admissions Office will review applications as applications are received to check they are complete and will be in contact if further information is needed Completed applications however will not be considered by the Faculty until after the application deadline listed below Applications will then be shortlisted for interview; if selected for interview, applicants should provide a portfolio of clinical dentistry to demonstrate your clinical skills

Teaching methods - what to expect

We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment


Assessment

Your three academic taught modules will be assessed by written exams Your five clinical modules will be examined on cases and open problems with oral exams, and you will have one research module, for which you will submit a report, with an oral exam


Extra information

Entry to the programme is strictly dependent upon occupational health clearance that you are able to conduct exposure prone procedures (EPPs) before you start clinical work This will assess your hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody status, HIV and TB status following the completion of a health questionnaire and a further health check before or at enrolment If offered a place on the course, overseas students are advised to be tested locally and send the results of these checks with the questionnaire, prior to a separate full test in the UK at the College's Occupational Health Department before the term begins All offers of a place on a programme are made subject to a satisfactory criminal conviction disclosure If you are from overseas or have never lived in the UK before, you should contact the relevant authorities in your home country to arrange for the equivalent check to be conducted and/or a certificate of good conduct to be issued

  • Clinical Endodontology (30 credits)
  • Endodontology & Restorative Dentistry (30 credits)
  • Complex applied clinical cases (90 credits)
  • Applied clinical cases (60 credits)
  • Clinical Endodontology & Restorative Dentistry (60 credits)
  • Research (60 credits)

Employability

By the end of our programme you will be a highly knowledgeable professional in endodontics at master's level, and proficient and skillful in related areas of restorative dentistry

Tuition Fees

  • UK: Full time: 3 year course: £27,100 per year (2025/26); 4 year course: £20,350 per year (2025/26)
  • International: Full time: 3 year course: £65,500 per year (2025/26); 4 year course: £49,200 per year (2025/26)

Deposit

If you receive an offer for this programme, you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place Deposit payments are credited towards the total tuition fee payment The Home deposit is £1000 The International deposit is £3000
