    The Gastroenterology Online MSc is a part-time, master's program offered by Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). It is delivered through a blended learning approach, which includes online lectures and seminars, podcasts, reading material and guided reading exercises, clinical case presentations, and group discussions via the QMplus portal.

    The Gastroenterology Online MSc covers a wide range of topics, including:

    • The Basis of Gastro-Intestinal Disease
    • Liver and Pancreatic Disease
    • Adult Gastro-Intestinal Diseases: Luminal Diseases
    • Neurogastroenterology: Advanced Functional Gastro-Intestinal Diseases
    • Paediatric and Adolescent Gastro-Intestinal and Liver Diseases, Gastro-Intestinal Infections
    • Introduction to Endoscopy and GI investigations (DL version)
    • Compulsory/Core Elective modules
    • Dissertation - Clinical Case Reports

    Program Structure:

    The program consists of six compulsory taught modules, 10,000-word dissertation/research project or Clinical Case Reports (CCRs), and a set of Clinical Elective modules.


    Course Schedule:

    • The part-time program takes either 2 years starting in September, or 27 months starting in January.
    • Both versions of the program start with the same core modules.
    • Students choosing the September start will complete their dissertation/CCRs in September 2025, while those starting in January 2025 will complete their dissertation/CCRs in January 2027.

    Individual modules:

    • Neurogastroenterology: Advanced Functional Gastro-Intestinal Diseases
    • - This module will be of interest to trainees in the field of Neurogastroenterology. Part of the module includes teaching and experience of complex diagnostic techniques within a GI physiology unit.
    • Paediatric and Adolescent Gastro-Intestinal and Liver Diseases, Gastro-Intestinal Infections
    • - This module will receive a thorough overview of gastrointestinal and liver diseases in children and adolescents, along with gastrointestinal infectious diseases.
    • Introduction to Endoscopy and GI investigations (DL version)
    • - This module will gain knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of the gastroenterology endoscopy and investigations.

    Assessment:

    Assessment methods for the Gastroenterology Online MSc include:

    • Coursework (75%)
    • Written exam (25%)
    • Research Project (Dissertation or CCRs)
    • Each module is examined through coursework and a written exam.
    • You EITHER complete a 10,000-word dissertation, in addition to a ten-minute oral presentation and 15-minute viva OR submit a set of Clinical Case Reports (CCRs).
