Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements for the Global Development MA:


Academic Requirements:

  • A 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in a relevant subject.
  • In other routes, candidates without the set entry requirements may have the option to study the Graduate Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Meeting the required grades on completion of this program provides a pathway to study the MA Global Development.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English language.
  • International students must achieve an IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum of 6.5 in Writing, and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking.
  • MSc Environmental Science and MSc Water and Environmental Management require 6.5 overall including 6.0 in Writing, and 5.5 in Reading, Listening and Speaking.

Other Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in development or related fields will be considered an advantage.
  • Applicants are also encouraged to include a personal statement and references in their application.
  • Admission requirements may be subject to change.
  • The Global Development MA program also offers a Pre-Masters Diploma option for students who do not meet the standard entry requirements.
