Overview

Our 6-month International Music Production & Vocal Performance Certificate is designed to give you the chance to apply to transfer directly into the second year of a 3-year BA (Hons) degree program at Point Blank's London School. All the most important fundamentals of singing and production are covered, including vocal musicianship, vocal technique, music composition, track building in Ableton Live or Logic Pro, and music industry studies. Developed and taught by professionals who’ve worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Pharrell, Skrillex, and more, this cutting-edge college-level program is the perfect start on your international musical journey from Los Angeles to London.

Note: Admission to degree programs at Point Blank London is subject to approval from Middlesex University.

Point Blank Music School's unique Singing course shows you how to deliver an accomplished vocal performance on stage and in the studio. Develop your vocal talents with professional warm up routines and learn vocal techniques to gain confidence in your performance. You'll learn to perform classic songs before exploring your own songwriting ideas with a Grammy-winning instructor. All styles are welcome and no previous experience is required.

    It's relatively easy to get a bunch of loops happening but not everyone can mould them into a finished, dynamic tune. Music Composition will help you achieve this. It shifts the focus from the technical to the musical elements within your track. Even if you don't make music with lyrics you still need to understand how tracks are structured in order to elevate your music above that of your competitors. If you want to sell your songs and/or make a living from your music, it is crucial to have an understanding of music theory, composition, and arrangement techniques.

    Listening is the key to developing your vocal performance and honing your songwriting craft. Understand musical language and familiarize yourself with musical notation. Develop musical techniques and build your keyboard skills to get your ideas down and communicate them to others. You will also analyze song form through reading lead sheets and listening to repertoire, as well as studying basic vocal tone production technique for accurate intonation, phrasing, and feel.

  • Course 5: 5. Audio Engineering

    A good audio engineer needs to have thorough knowledge of the mixing desk, microphones, and recording techniques for drums, bass, guitar, and vocals. To give you professional insights into this world, students take part in recording sessions led by instructors who have worked with Pharrell, Swedish House Mafia, Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas, The Killers, Bjork and many more. We provide professional session musicians for you to record as part of your course. Point Blank's facilities features fully-equipped live recording areas for your use, and a control room with a 32-channel SSL Origin mixing desk.
