Program Overview
Overview
Our 6-month International Music Production & DJ Performance Certificate will set you up with a chance to apply to transfer directly into the second year of a 3-year BA (Hons) degree program at Point Blank's London School. You'll also prepare yourself for a range of industry careers such as music producer, composer, sound designer, resident/touring DJ, or A&R/label manager. You will gain a mastery of your preferred DAW (Ableton Live or Logic Pro) and dive into skills and techniques including production, composition, essential DJ skills, and sound design. Our expert instructors have worked with the likes of Pharrell, Skrillex, and Amy Winehouse, just to name a few.
Note: Admission to degree programs at Point Blank London is subject to approval from Middlesex University.
This certificate program is delivered in person at our brand-new campus in Miracle Mile. You will be learning on the latest industry tech including Ableton Live, Push, Logic Pro, NI Komplete, Roland Cloud, and Pioneer DJ gear like the CDJ-3000, DJM-V10, CDJ-2000NXS, XDJ-XZ, RMX-1000, and more. All students who enroll in this program are entitled to receive a copy of the Ableton Live 11 Suite or Apple Logic Pro X software valued at $749 and $199 respectively. You’ll also attend exclusive masterclasses from the likes of Mark de Clive-Lowe, Laura Escude (Jay Z, Kanye West), Daddy Kev (Low End Theory), and Jimmy Mac (Lorde). Music Production: Ableton
Our Music Production: Ableton course gives students a thorough grounding in essential music production skills in Ableton Live. If you are serious about becoming a professional producer or sound engineer, then it is crucial to master these skills before you can progress further. It's perfect for beginners, but even if you have been making music for some time you will benefit from learning professional techniques from an experienced producer with major artist credits. This course also incorporates Ableton's hardware controller, Push.
Music Production: Logic
Recently updated to include the exciting new features of Logic 10.5, Intro to Music Production gives students a thorough grounding in essential music production skills in Logic Pro. If you are serious about becoming a professional producer or sound engineer, then it is crucial to master these skills before you can progress further. It is perfect for beginners, but even if you have been making music for some time you will benefit from learning professional techniques from an experienced producer with major artist credits.

Music Composition
It's relatively easy to get a bunch of loops happening but not everyone can mould them into a finished, dynamic tune. Music Composition will help you achieve this. It shifts the focus from the technical to the musical elements within your track. Even if you don't make music with lyrics you still need to understand how tracks are structured in order to elevate your music above that of your competitors. If you want to sell your songs and/or make a living from your music, it is crucial to have an understanding of music theory, composition, and arrangement techniques.

Essential DJ Skills
This course provides students with a strong foundation across a range of DJ skills. You will develop a solid knowledge of music theory within the context of spinning tunes. Essential DJ Skills will help you develop the knowhow and confidence to play live in the genre of your choice. A wide range of the latest DJ equipment is available in Point Blank's Pioneer DJ studio so you can familiarize yourself with the kind of set-ups most venues have. Students receive plenty of one-to-one support from the instructor while working work on practical tasks. The course also introduces the specialist DJ software Rekordbox and gives students an overview of the powerful features it offers. Sound Design
Sound Design is where you get to grips with your creative potential through the use of cutting-edge music software. Using Native Instruments' Komplete, expert producers show you how to utilize the latest instruments and plug-ins to create your own unique sound and elevate your productions and remixes to a professional level. Designed to help you create your own signature sound and open up a world of possibilities in music for you , this course is very creative and full of insider tips and tricks.

Production Styles
In Production Styles we break down your favorite artists' music so you can understand how it was made: which recording and production techniques were used and which instruments are featured? What is the culture and history of your favorite music? In learning these techniques you'll be able to use them creatively in your own music. Included here are in-depth genre-specific resources developed specially by the team at Point Blank.

Music Business
Music Business is aimed at people who are interested in making a living from music. Whether you want to self-manage, represent different artists, or work in other areas, times are changing and new opportunities are emerging all the time in the digital era. To make the most of them you will need a solid grasp of how the industry works, what a record company's role is, record deals, publishing and contracts, how the financials work, and more.
