Flexible Learning
We use a blended approach to teach our Applied Sports Nutrition degree. This means you will attend in-person for taught content blocks while also accessing online materials and support. The number of in-person taught blocks will depend on the qualification you're completing.
- MSc: four lots of three-day weekends (Friday to Sunday) and two x four-day week blocks.
- PGDip: four lots of three-day weekends (Friday to Sunday) and one x four-day week blocks.
- PGCert: three lots of three-day weekends (Friday to Sunday).

Sports Nutrition Education Network
The Sports Nutrition Education Network (SNEN), is a joint initiative by St Mary’s University and the University of Westminster, supporting students aspiring to become sports nutritionists. The SNEN is designed to enhance your technical and applied knowledge, but also to help you understand the opportunities that are out there, learn from the experience of others, and to build a network in the industry through a series of long and short form podcasts, research deep dives, and Q&As.
Fuelling Conversations Podcast
The Fuelling Conversations Podcast hosted by our course lead Dr James Fleming, is an initiative supporting students aspiring to become sports nutritionists. The podcast is designed to enhance your technical and applied knowledge, but also to help you understand the opportunities that are out there, learn from the experience of others, and to build a network in the industry through a series of long and short form podcasts, research deep dives, and Q&As.

Entry Requirements
- 2:2
- Previous degree: A first degree in a related field is required.
- Related fields include: Nutrition, Dietetics, Sports Science, Sports and Exercise Physiology, Sports Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Sports Coaching and Strength and Conditioning.
- Relevant and appropriate experience will be considered.
- All applicants are expected to demonstrate interest, enthusiasm and continuous professional development in the field of sports nutrition.
International Requirements
- International students should check our country-specific pages for equivalents.
- If English is not your first language you will need to achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any section.
Fees & Funding
- Home: £10,800
- International: £18,450
- A non-refundable deposit of £250 is required for Home/EU students to confirm their place.
- Tuition fees are annual and may increase as detailed in our tuition fee variation disclaimer.
- Additional costs could be incurred depending on optional modules chosen and other projects undertaken.
Alumni Discount
- A 20% tuition fee discount is available for our alumni (undergraduate and PGCE) planning to study this Master's degree.
Funding
- Except for any iQTS courses, you can check on the UK government website to see if you may be eligible for a loan of up to £12,167 to help with course fees and living costs while you study a postgraduate programme.
- Home and international students for non-iQTS courses may also be eligible for external sources of funding.
- International students should check their eligibility for our International Scholarship.
How the Degree is Taught
Assessment Methods
- Assessments will include a variety of formative and summative techniques, through the combination of assessment of work based learning and other more traditional means of assessment.
- This includes coursework such as oral presentations, essays, production of media based articles, and development of professional skill tools, portfolios and case studies.
