Sport Psychology (with a Foundation Year) BSc (Hons)

About

Understand how behaviour, developmental processes, and the mind affect sports performance with our Sport Psychology degree. Improve athletic performance and well-being by getting to know the human experience with our Sport Psychology degree. Under a scientific lens, you will explore key factors affecting sports performance, such as:

• anxiety

• sport injuries.

Our Sport Psychology BSc is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You will be eligible for the Graduate Membership with the BPS by successfully completing this course.

World-class sports facilities

With our Sport Psychology course, you will get access to our world-class sports facilities, including our gymnasium, training pitches, and the Sir Mo Farah Athletics Track.

A close-knit community

We are smaller than many other universities. This allows the psychology department to foster a close-knit community of students and staff. Our student, Ashika, explains that our “lecturers are really friendly. You can ask them anything”.

Work placements: build professional experience

You may also undertake a work placement in the local or wider London area during your Sport Psychology degree.

About the Foundation Year

Our four-year degree programmes (including a foundation year) provide an alternative route to undergraduate study at university if you do not have the grades to access higher education in the traditional way.

Entry requirements

• 48 UCAS points
• We understand that sometimes barriers you can't control get in the way of academic achievement. You are more than just your grades. We'll consider your application as a whole, taking into account things like:
  • subjects studied at Level 3
  • your GCSEs (or equivalent) profile
  • non-academic achievements you mention in your personal statement
  • your references and motivation.

Teaching methods

• You'll be taught on our beautiful and historic campus located in Twickenham, London.
• Our aim is to help you develop as an independent thinker, able to work individually and in a team, and capable of managing your workload. Innovative teaching methods are delivered within settings such as lectures and seminars. You will also engage in workshops and practical tasks that develop your research skills.

Assessment methods

• Modules are assessed through a variety of teaching methods including examinations, presentations, practical workshops, reports and case studies
