Sport Rehabilitation (Pre-Registration) MSc, PGDip, PGCert
About
Champion an athlete’s recovery and enhance performance with our innovative Sports Rehabilitation master’s. Assess, treat, and prevent sports injuries on our Sport Rehabilitation master’s. You will balance theory and practical skills while covering:
- injury assessment
- the rehabilitation process
- patient and athlete management
- biomechanics and neuromuscular training
- research methods
You will also experience real-world clinical settings through 400 placement hours. Choose your own placement or lean on our support to assist you in completing your clinical placement.
Accreditation
Our Sports Rehabilitation MSc is one of the only postgraduate courses accredited by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT). After completing this degree, you will be eligible to enter the BASRaT register.
Facilities
We were one of the first UK universities to offer Sport Rehabilitation degrees. Our innovative degree allows you access to our state-of-the-art Performance Education Centre, where you can apply knowledge, and practice exercise-based assessments and interventions.
You will also use our Biomechanics Laboratory and world-class sports facilities.
Additional Qualifications
Our postgraduate Sport Rehabilitation degree includes an Immediate Care in Sport (Level 2) course. As a result, you will earn a recognised qualification in pitch-side immediate care skills.

Study Options
You can take our Sport Rehabilitation course on a part-time or full-time basis. You'll learn through a hybrid approach that includes:
- online sessions, accessible live and as recordings
- monthly contact days.

Entry Requirements
- 2:2
- Previous degree: At least 2:1 (or equivalent) or good 2:2.
- Students will normally be expected to have achieved a 2:1 or a good 2:2 (or equivalent) in a related discipline, including: sport and exercise science, sports coaching, strength and conditioning, sport science, sports therapy, physical education and physiotherapy.
- International students should check our country-specific pages for equivalents. If English is not your first language you will need to achieve an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any section.
Fees & Funding
- Home: £11,910
- International: £18,750
- Additional costs: Tuition fees are annual and may increase as detailed in our tuition fee variation disclaimer.
- Alumni discount: A 10% tuition fee discount is available for our alumni (undergraduate and PGCE) planning to study this Master's degree.
- Funding: Except for any iQTS courses, you can check on the UK government website to see if you may be eligible for a loan of up to £12,167 to help with course fees and living costs while you study a postgraduate programme.

How to Apply
You need to complete 180 credits during your Sport Rehabilitation MSc. If you complete the full MSc, you'll exit as Graduate Sport Rehabilitators - a protected title - and are eligible to register with BASRaT (British Association of Sport Rehabilitators) to practice as accredited Graduate Sport Rehabilitators.
If you complete a 60 credits (for a PGCert) or 120 credits (for a PGDip), you'll exit with a PGCert or PGDip in Sport Injury Studies. This acknowledges the skills and knowledge you've built through your postgraduate studies. However, you won't meet the requirements to register with BASRaT and practice as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator.
