• Study the major programming languages (C/C++, Java, JavaScript, C#).
• Understand database design and manipulation, and various modern frameworks.

If you don’t meet the entry requirements for our BEng (Hons) courses – or you’d like extra preparation before starting degree-level study – we recommend you join the foundation year. You’ll share this first year with other computing foundation year students before you move on to the degree.

On this course, you’ll cover all areas of the software development process – including system architecture and design – with a particular focus on developing software solutions. We work closely with local companies in Sheffield, so that you’ll be able to work with real clients throughout the course.

As you progress through the course, you’ll learn to produce high-quality, large-scale, enterprise-wide and complex software applications. You’ll develop and enhance your skills in computation, software and systems across a variety of application areas – including web-based, database and distributed applications, and hardware programming.
