Program Overview


This qualification is a new programme available from 2021.

Study a Bachelor of Computer Science at Waikato and develop the skills and thinking to creatively and effectively use technology. Solve challenges faced by businesses and communities and become a leader in the industry.

The Bachelor of Computer Science is a specialised, industry aligned, three-year degree where you  will gain experience in a wide range of fields. Learn how to identify and solve problems, and apply and evaluate solutions and techniques.

This programme will be accredited by the Seoul Accord, an international agreement that establishes that accredited programmes equip graduates for the workforce. As a graduate of this programme, you will be on your way to becoming recognised as a Chartered Information Technology Professional under Chartered IT Professional NZ (CITPNZ), an international gold standard accreditation.

Data Analytics

  • Learn about the capture and treatment of large volumes of data that is generated across all types of industries and aspects of life. Help make informed decisions by providing insight into variability and analyse information to identify what is meaningful.

Embedded Systems

  • Develop your expertise in effectively combining software and hardware solutions to design and develop smart devices, sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT). Target cutting-edge applications in ambient intelligence, smart cities, agritech, environmental monitoring, industrial control, and so much more


Industry Relevant

Graduates of the Bachelor of Computer Science will be ‘industry ready’ and have the capability to design and implement creative solutions in diverse technological contexts.  Students will complete a work-integrated learning paper in their third year, and can also elect to complete a larger work placement to further develop their real-world experience. If students choose this option then help in securing a placement will be provided by our Work-Integrated Learning Team.
