Māori Media and Communication is no longer available for new enrolments.Students can select alternative subjects Māori and Indigenous Studies, Māori Language/Te Reo Māori or Pacific and Indigenous Studies.

The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is awarded by the University for research carried out under the supervision of at least two staff members. A PhD can also be presented as a PhD with Publication or a PhD with a Creative Practice Component.

The study of Māori Media and Communication explores indigenous expression across new and emerging communication practices including social media, Māori broadcasting, film and creative performing arts.
