If you want to study computer science at Sheffield but you don’t have the right A Levels, this is the most direct route. The foundation year gives you the necessary grounding in maths and either physics or chemistry. Complete it to the required standard and you’re ready to start a degree course.Computer science at Sheffield is a rare blend of advanced science, business experience and creativity. This is the only computer science department in the UK with its own student-run software company – Genesys Solutions. You will get the chance to work for Genesys as part of your course. Teaching staff are experts in iPhone, Android and VR technology. Guest lecturers come from IBM, Microsoft and HP.Our graduates are problem solvers. They can program. They work well in teams. And they understand the theoretical principles. They are consultants and software engineers with companies including Accenture, Amazon, Deutsche Bank, Google, HSBC, IBM, Microsoft and Reuters.
