About Program

Program Overview

At Sussex, your teaching is underpinned by the latest cutting-edge research. Our faculty:

  • develop next-generation quantum technology devices and materials including quantum sensors and quantum computers
  • work on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider as well as on the latest neutrino experiments
  • observe the origins and evolution of our universe with the largest available telescopes and gravitational waves
  • use pen and paper or supercomputers to unravel the mysteries of our universe – the nature of dark matter, quantum gravity and quantum effects in black holes .

In your final-year project and your research placement opportunities, you’ll interact with world-leading physicists . You’ll have the opportunity to apply for a year working in industry. You can choose from a range of companies and we have links with employers through the South East Physics Network (SEPnet).

You’ll be part of a close community – our lively Physics Society arranges regular social events . Our building is a real hub of activity. You’ll have all your practical sessions in our modern teaching laboratories. Outside the classroom, you can study or catch up with your friends in our popular student spaces.
