About Program

Program Overview

On this pathway, a student can study for an astrophysics degree with a programme that includes modules in space science. The physics content of the degree represents the full core material as defined by the Institute of Physics. The space content includes modules focussing on space systems, space science, rocket performance and propulsion, orbital mechanics and spacecraft communications. The course picks up on key research strengths within the physics and engineering departments including galactic and extragalactic astronomy, remote sensing, instrumentation, climate studies, and collaboration with industrial partners. Students have the opportunity to use the full suite of instrumentation at the Bayfordbury Observatory. They may also undertake an optional placement year or study abroad year as part of their studies.
