Program Overview
Our BA Political Economy degree is a specialist programme which focuses on the political, philosophical and social underpinnings of modern economics. POLSIS is one of the very few departments in the country to offer such a programme.Political Economy looks at how economic trade decisions are made by governments, with relation to the distribution of their wealth and goods. This degree programme will give you an understanding of the dichotomies that exist within political economics, such as how we construct our political identities against the economic dimensions of everyday life. This course is designed for students who may feel uncomfortable with the highly mathematical component of most economic degree programmes.We offer a range of opportunities as part of this degree, for example, you can undertake a work placement through our integrated Professional Development Module or take part in an International Model NATO Conference in Washington DC. This experience provides you with a unique opportunity to participate in a role-play exercise of decision-making at NATO, working with delegates from universities and institutions across the globe.
