Program Overview


Completing our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing degree will equip you with a high level of knowledge and expertise of carrying out the role of the police constable and the complex requirements of 21st century policing. Although specifically designed for those seeking to become police constables with Police forces in England & Wales, the programme is of value to those interested in other branches of law enforcement and who are considering pursuing a career in the wider policing sector.In year 1, you will be introduced to the legislation, policy and practice that underpins the roles and responsibilities of the police constable. This will include an introduction to the use information and intelligence, investigation, understanding communities and response policing. You will develop your academic skills and study criminological aspects of crime and crime prevention.In year 2, you will build upon the learning achieved so far, with your focus being on delivering a professional policing service. Additionally, you will study the impact of crime on society and develop your research skills in preparation for your final year evidence-based research project.In year 3, you will have opportunity to learn about the more advanced aspects of policing and to conduct evidenced based research. Through the selection of one of three core conditional modules and an option module you will be able to focus upon specialisms within policing in which you have developed an interest and may wish to pursue in your chosen career.
