Program Overview


Applied Modern Language and Culture Bachelor of Science Degree

Overview

The Applied Modern Language and Culture program at RIT offers students the opportunity to pair study of Chinese, French, Japanese, or Spanish language with a second major for careers in global arts, business, or science. The program includes a required international experience, enabling students to live, study, or work in an international location through study abroad or an international co-op.


Options

  • Chinese Option: Experience the language and culture of China as you develop your fluency in the language and learn how to apply this skill to your technical or professional discipline.
  • French Option: Acquire a high level of proficiency in the French language, as well as an understanding of the cultures of France and other French-speaking regions worldwide.
  • Japanese Option: Learn the Japanese language and the culture of Japan and develop your fluency in the language while learning how to apply this skill to your technical or professional discipline.
  • Spanish Option: Gain an advanced understanding of the cultures of Spain and other Spanish-speaking regions worldwide. Coupled with your secondary degree, you will be prepared for a career in our globally connected world.

Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degrees

Today’s careers require advanced degrees grounded in real-world experience. RIT’s Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degrees enable you to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in as little as five years of study, all while gaining the valuable hands-on experience that comes from co-ops, internships, research, study abroad, and more.


RIT’s Teaching Partnership Programs

Whether your goal is to go into early childhood or elementary education, become a secondary education teacher with a content area specialty at the middle or high school level, or work in the higher education or counseling fields, RIT’s partnership programs with local universities provide a guided pathway to a career in teaching.

Admissions and Financial Aid

  • First-Year Admission:
    • 4 years of English with a strong performance is expected.
    • 3 years of social studies and/or history with a strong performance is expected.
    • 3 years of math is required and must include algebra, geometry, and algebra 2/trigonometry.
    • 2-3 years of science.
  • Transfer Admission:
    • A minimum of college algebra is required.
  • Financial Aid and Scholarships:
    • 100% of all incoming first-year and transfer students receive aid.
