Overview
Profound and ongoing changes are taking place in organizations, and individuals need to be flexible and proactive in their response. The Organizational Change and Leadership Certificate helps students understand corporate culture and develop skills necessary to manage organizational and individual change. Through the study of leadership, corporate culture, change management, organizational behavior, and team dynamics, individuals understand and obtain the skills necessary to proactively manage workplace change.
Curriculum
Organizational Change and Leadership, Certificate, Typical Course Sequence
- First Year
- SOIS-205: Practicing and Assessing Leadership (3 credits)
- By integrating course concepts of leadership styles and theories with a leadership field experience, students will be able to assess their skills as a leader and create a plan for growth and development for future success.
- SOIS-233: Teams and Team Development (3 credits)
- This course focuses on the development of the essential skills needed to be an effective team member and understand the characteristics of high-performing teams in the workplace.
- SOIS-335: Global Forces and Trends (3 credits)
- This course focuses on the understanding of the global forces and trends that impact countries, organizations, and people across many dimensions.
- SOIS-431: Understanding Organizational Culture (3 credits)
- Organizational culture exists in all kinds of organizations including profit-seeking firms, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.
- SOIS-205: Practicing and Assessing Leadership (3 credits)
- Second Year
- SOIS-432: Managing Organizational Change (3 credits)
- Sooner or later all organizations change in certain to many respects and for several reasons.
- SOIS-442: Learning Organization (3 credits)
- This interdisciplinary course focuses on theory and techniques for building and sustaining an efficient, creative organization that promotes problem-solving and collaborative learning.

Applicants for the Organizational Change and Leadership Certificate must be students in good standing in an undergraduate program at RIT, or hold an undergraduate degree from RIT. Contact your academic advisor or the program contact for more details.
