Overview
The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree at Canterbury Christ Church University is an innovative and research-based program that equips students with the vital skills needed to become confident and competent nursing professionals. Upon graduation, students are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Program Structure
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of adult nursing, including theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The first year focuses on the fundamentals of the profession, with students learning alongside those from other nursing disciplines. Years two and three concentrate on the student's chosen field, with continued emphasis on simulated practice and real-world placements.

Health Interview and DBS
Offers of a place are made after a successful interview and are subject to a satisfactory reference, health clearance, and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Module Information
The program includes a range of core and optional modules, designed to ensure students achieve the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful nursing career. Modules cover topics such as professional nursing practice, nursing for health, and nursing practice.
Teaching and Learning
- Nursing is a full-time course, with students typically in university three or four days per week.
- The program includes 2300 hours of theoretical learning and 2300 hours of practice, including 600 hours of simulated practice learning.
- A variety of learning and teaching techniques are used, including simulated practice learning, lectures, seminars, group work, problem-based learning, and discussion.
Assessment
Assessment methods include coursework, exams, presentations, and practice assessment. Practice is assessed each year using the ePAD online system.
Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to apply for registration with the NMC and pursue a career in adult nursing. Career opportunities include working in clinical practice, management, education, research, or using skills in the armed forces.

Professional Accreditation
