BEng (Hons) General Engineering with Foundation Year

The BEng (Hons) General Engineering with Foundation Year is a four-year course designed to provide students with the foundational skills and knowledge to complete a full Honours degree. This program is ideal for students who do not meet the level 3 entry requirements, offering them the opportunity to study at degree level.

Overview

The course enables students to become confident and adaptable engineers, learning to grasp, critically analyze, and solve challenges using mathematical, scientific, and analytical thought processes. Students will master engineering fundamentals across diverse specialisms, including mechanics, manufacturing, and electronics, and utilize industry-standard facilities and state-of-the-art equipment to bring their designs to life.

• Total Points required: 64
• Accepted qualifications:
  • A Levels: DDE
  • BTEC: MPP
  • Access: Pass 45 Credits
  • International Baccalaureate: TBC
• Extra requirements: Five GCSEs C/4 or above, including English, maths, and science.

How You'll Learn

• Teaching: 66 hours of contact per 30-credit module, including lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions.

Fees

• 2026/27 annual tuition fees:
  • UK: ｣9,790 (Foundation Year), ｣10,050 (years 1-3)
  • Overseas: ｣17,000
• The University intends to increase tuition fees in line with the maximum tuition fee cap set by the UK Government.
