Explore the exciting and challenging world of sports coaching, and study the science associated with coaching individuals and teams.
On our course you’ll study and experience sport coaching with modules in coaching theory and practice, and learn about the science behind sports performance and physical activity.
You'll benefit from specialist sports labs and be taught by a passionate, research active team of academics and supported by specialist technical staff.
In the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey (2022) 100% of our Sport Coaching Science students were in jobs or further study 15 months after finishing their course.
Why study Sport Coaching Science?
If you want to prepare for a career related to sport coaching, then our course will help you develop the practical skills and scientific knowledge to help you achieve your career goal.
You'll develop strong analytical and research skills, and gain plenty of hands-on experience in our dedicated labs, specialist equipment includes eye tracker technology, brain imaging equipment (EEG), reaction timers, gas analysis systems, cardiac screening equipment, 3D imaging; isokinetic and balance dynamometry, sprint timing systems and other sport/exercise related equipment, such as treadmills and weights.
During the course, you'll have a ‘consultancy’ and ‘research’ informed experience whereby you'll participate activities linked to our consultancy unit, the SportsLab, which provides scientific services for sports people. You'll also have opportunities for paid employment working for SportsLab.
Throughout the course you'll develop transferable skills and build in confidence and ability so by the time you graduate you're fully prepared to follow your career aspirations.
