Admission Requirements
Entry Requirements:
EU Home Students:
- Leaving Certificate: A minimum of six subjects at ordinary level (O6) to include two languages (one of which must be Irish or English) and mathematics.
- Equivalent qualifications: If you have completed qualifications outside of the Irish Leaving Certificate system, you may be eligible to apply based on equivalent qualifications. These qualifications must be deemed equivalent to the Leaving Certificate by the Qualifications and Quality Assurance Authority of Ireland (QQI).
International Overseas Students (outside the EU):
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: A minimum of 24 points overall, with at least 15 points at Higher Level (HL) subjects.
- GCE Advanced Level (A-Level): A minimum of three A-Level subjects, with at least two at grade C or above.
- Other qualifications: If you have completed qualifications outside of the IB or A-Level systems, you may be eligible to apply based on equivalent qualifications. These qualifications must be deemed equivalent to the IB or A-Level by the Qualifications and Quality Assurance Authority of Ireland (QQI).
Language Proficiency Requirements:
English Language Proficiency:
- For non-native English speakers, Independent College requires proof of English language proficiency. This can be demonstrated through:
- Achieving a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS Academic test.
- Completing a recognized English language course. However, students are encouraged to develop their Irish language skills, as this will be beneficial for their legal studies.
- In addition to the above requirements, Independent College may also consider your personal statement, references, and work experience.
