Why take this course?

A comprehensive understanding of the deployment and management of network and cloud infrastructure is a key requirement for many organisations. There is significant growth in demand for graduates with the appropriate skills in these areas with recent reports referring to the shift to Cloud as “Climate Change” for IT. In addition, various industry reports identify a shortage of network professionals with relevant Network, Cloud and Software skills. This honours degree includes modules which will assist students in taking additional assessments to gain VMware vSphere qualifications.

This programme will provide the student with skills in the design and test of medium-sized scripting applications. The programme will also cover data modelling and database design; students will also assess data storage and retrieval for large data sets required for Big Data. The student will also cover network management and enhanced network topics such as SDN. Augmented User Interaction, or AR, looks at the emergence of interaction networks across a number of domains through completing a project. Students will also research, implement, document and present a final year project in a related area.

What will I experience?

TUS is a leader in computer and network engineering education. The institute has extensive connections with industry, furthermore the Software Research Institute (SRI) located on campus, is a nationally recognised centre. Student tutors and mentors are on hand to provide extra support. Programmes are delivered in the state-of-the-art Engineering & Informatics building. You will get a lot of hands on physical equipment time as-well as using simulators and remotely accessed labs. This will give you an excellent view of the possibilities that can be delivered by networked systems.
