Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (BBA)

Overview

The Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (BBA) program provides students with opportunities to build the necessary skills for the future with a deep understanding of business and technological trends at a global scale and with hands-on experience via close links to the industry.


Key Learning Outcomes

  • The successful BBA participant will be able to describe and demonstrate an understanding of the major concepts in the functional areas of general management (such as accounting, economics, finance, and marketing).
  • The successful BBA participant will be able to develop learning skills that support further studies with a high degree of autonomy.
  • The successful BBA participant will be able to create and present basic oral and written business communications in English.
  • The successful BBA participant will be able to apply their acquired knowledge and tools and organize and interpret the results in a logically integrated and cross-functional manner to support basic business decision-making.
  • The successful BBA participant will be able to describe and explain theories, tools, and techniques (such as a cash flow statement, market segmentation, and sustainable competitive advantage) as used for the internal and external analysis of a particular company situation or industry environment.

Structure

  • The BBA Program structure includes 9 academic terms, with 3 terms per year.
  • A normal course of study to complete a BBA program over three years requires the completion of 30 core courses, including the Business Plan Capstone and 15 elective courses.

Payment of Fees

  • Fifty percent (50%) of the tuition fee for each program that the student is applying for is due upon notification of acceptance and application at the Embassy.
  • The balance of tuition and student fees is due by Admission Day at the beginning of each term.
  • Payments can be made by direct bank transfer.

Program Outline


The Helvetic Business School operates on a term system. The academic year begins in September and ends in July, with five academic terms.

The term consists of 8 weeks, with examinations taking place during the 8th week. Examination periods usually occur during the middle and at the end of each term.
Holiday periods are generally two weeks long during December/January, March and May. For more information please refer to the academic calendar.

The BBA Program structure includes 15 academic terms, with 5 terms per year. A normal course of study to complete a BBA program over three years requires the completion of 30 core courses including the Business Plan Capstone and 15 elective courses.

Note: A set of 3 foundational courses for a total of 3 CH | 4 ECTS are offered to students who need additional proficiency in English Communication, Math, and Applied IT.

The conferring of a BBA degree from HBS follows only after completing all the following requirements:

  • Academic credit requirements - a minimum of 135 CH | 180 ECTS.
  • Academic performance requirements - a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Business Plan Capstone or Internship: a business plan delivered in the final year or the choice to do an internship for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Attendance and residency requirements.

Admission Requirements
General Requirements
The general requirements for all applicants include the completed application form and payable fees in addition to the documents listed below. The applicant should ensure that these documents are sent to HBS in good time before a course of study begins.

Application Form: Applicants must submit a completed and signed application
form.

Photographs: Six (6) passport size photographs must be included with the application form that is submitted to HBS. Most of these photos are required by the local authorities and for student visas.

Recommendations: Two (2) confidential letters of recommendation from instructors or employers who are familiar with the applicant’s past performance must be sent directly to HBS. Certified translations must also be submitted for all letters not in English.

Résumé or CV: A brief written account of the applicant’s strengths and accomplishments. Include personal details, education, work experience, other qualifications and career expectations.

Official sealed documents: Applicants must submit their transcripts, Diplomas, and Certificates for all applicable academic work done at the secondary or university-level institutions in the past three (3) years. Transcripts must be sent directly by the institutions to HBS. Certified translations must also be submitted for all documents not in English.

Motivation Letter: The essay or motivation letter should be at least 500 words in length. You should tell the story of your academic development and any other work experience you have had in a first-person narrative. You should explain your reasons for applying and how you expect HBS to further improve your present career goals.

Evidence of sufficient financial means:
Bank statement, sponsor letter, etc.

Language Proficiency: Proficiency will normally be recognized if students have completed any of the following conditions:
  • Attendance for at least three recent full years of study in an institution where the sole language of instruction is English.
  • Obtaining Standard level or higher, in the International Baccalaureate (IB).

If none of these conditions apply, proof of proficiency in English must be provided by achieving the appropriate score on one of the following:
  • At least 550 score in a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
  • At least 6.0 score in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Certified translations in English are required for all records, not in English.
