T are three elements to the programme design to ensure quality. The first is the use of a designated course-book. It is the policy of the School to utilise a course-book for approximately 50% of the teaching of the level. The teacher will supplement the book with locally-themed realia and materials and thus personalising and localising students within the use of language presented through the book.
Project Classes
Students are required to complete a designated language project. This allows students to move away from the controlling-themes of a book and allow students a degree of independence in choosing a topic or theme w language can be practised, recited, performed or written within a guided learning environment. Previous projects include: websites on buskers in Dublin, songs, short stories, performance pieces, blogs and PowerPoint presentations on cultural topics.
Workshops
T are three types of workshops offered to students as part of the overall course. The first is focused on a specific skill. Secondly, each student is required to take a proficiency examination and are provided with exam preparation workshops that will complement the other elements of the syllabus. Finally, we offer an Irish Society class that uses rich media to engage learners in receiving and reusing language within a cultural context.
