Overview

Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing industry internationally. Ireland alone has become a significant base of international technology and security companies, with the top 5 worldwide security software companies in the world and over 6,000 people working in the cyber security industry.


The Online Diploma in Cybersecurity is an industry-led programme developed by practitioners who are subject matter experts in the field of Cybersecurity. This course is technical and practical, and specifically designed for middle and senior managers, and small business owners who need to consider what cybercrime and cybersecurity can mean for their business.


Previous experience/qualification in Cybersecurity is not a prerequisite, and this course is open to all.

Online and Practical Assessment

In order to achieve the Online Diploma in Cybersecurity, participants will have to complete a mandatory individual assignment (100%).


DBS OnDemand students can utilise resources to assist them in every aspect of their studies, please such as units of recorded content that includes, voiced over PowerPoint, person-to-camera and animated content. A case-study learning approach is adopted with interactive knowledge checks throughout.

DBS Online Library - The Online Library houses an array of introductory videos and virtual classroom sessions covering topics including: library resources, essay writing skills, avoiding plagiarism, and referencing.


Structure

One of the key benefits of OnDemand is the option to start whenever suits you, 365 days a year. The DBS Online Diploma in Cybersecurity will be run wholly online including workshops, tutorials and programme assessment.


The virtual learning environment that we use to deliver these programmes is Moodle - (a learning management system). Moodle provides the information about the course and the lectures. You will find materials and activities here.


To use Moodle you will need:

  • A desktop or laptop PC or Mac, a tablet, iPad or mobile phone
  • Any internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, Safari etc.) or either the Apple or Android app for your tablet, iPad or mobile phone
  • Materials are normally PDF, Word or PowerPoint documents. If you do not already have apps that can open these files, these can be made freely available to you for the duration of the course
