Year One
- You will complete a combination of modules totaling 60 credits, focusing on research methods and specific areas within your chosen field.
- Participation in the Reading Researcher Development Programme and the Graduate School’s Preparing to Teach module are mandatory for some students.
- Attendance at weekly research seminars is expected.
- Regular meetings with your supervisor(s) are crucial for progress and guidance.
Year Two
- The focus shifts towards your PhD dissertation, with continuous work and meetings with your supervisor(s).
- Participation in the Reading Researcher Development Programme and research seminars remains important.
- You will prepare a poster for the annual PhD day and present a paper/poster at a national/international conference.
- Students receiving a Studentship contribute to teaching and research activities.
Year Three
- The final year is dedicated to completing and submitting your PhD dissertation.

- Students receiving a Studentship continue contributing to teaching and research activities.
