Arabic Upper Intermediate
Overview
Our Arabic Upper Intermediate course is designed for students who have a solid intermediate knowledge of the Arabic language and its grammar. The course is divided into three parts, each building on the previous one, and covers various topics and grammar to help students communicate confidently and fluently in most everyday situations.
Who is this class for?
This course is suitable for students who have studied Arabic for around three years or 180 hours and can communicate confidently and fluently in most everyday situations.
Course Structure
The course is divided into three parts:
- Part One: For students who have studied Arabic for around three years or 180 hours.
- Part Two: For students who have completed Part One or have studied Arabic for about 200 hours.
- Part Three: For students who have completed Parts One and Two or have studied Arabic for about 220 hours.
Teaching
Our Arabic lessons follow a communicative approach to language teaching, focusing on the language you need to communicate in authentic situations with an emphasis on speaking and listening. Our evening classes are taught by experienced language teachers who are native speakers of the language or equivalent.

The tutor's own materials will be used.
Part One
In Part One of the Upper Intermediate course, you'll cover the following topics and grammar:

- Talking about famous people
- Expressing ownership
- Walking as exercise
- Description of events, occasions, and a graduation party
- Student life and daily activities
Grammar
- Idafa structure حقيبة المدرسة
- Compound nouns مدخل المستشفى
- Adverbs مكان / زمان
- Plurals طلاب / مكاتب / ممرضون
- Case jussive لم يلبسوا
- Prepositions حتى / إلى / اللام
Part Two
Part Two builds on what you learnt in Part One covering the following topics and grammar:

- Expressing frequency of habits and hobbies
- Planning holidays, occasions, trips, and parties
- Colloquial Arabic
- A holiday in South Sinai
Grammar
- Present tense in all its forms يُحبّ / يكون
- Verb-subject agreement الولدُ يلعبُ / يلعبُ الولدُ
- Negation of the verbs ما ذهبت / لا يشرب / لن يعمل
- Adjectives ضيق / زحمة
- Connectors عندما / قبل ما
- Future verb سـ + فعل مضارع
Part Three
Part Three is the final level of the Upper Intermediate course, and covers the following topics and grammar:

- Talking about personal life
- Talking about the courage of the youth
- Talking about folklore and news
- Writing a short story
- Talking about successful relationships
